A Fully Contactless Autonomous Falls Detection System
Soteria is an easy to install, maintenance free sensor designed to monitor wellness and improve the safety, care and experience of vulnerable patients in their home, including those with physical and mental disabilities, those with deteriorating health and the frail.
Soteria monitors key vital signs, detects falls, unusual activity and inactivity and is the only contactless fall detection and alert system with the ability to accurately detect falls 99% of the time. This contactless technology operates autonomously in the background 24 hours a day, 7 days per week with total privacy.
How does it work?
The core hardware technology powering Soteria is IR-UWB (impulse radio ultra wide band) radar. It sends out 20,000 nano-pulses per second and gathers valuable data from its surroundings. Micro movements and vibrations such as chest movement from breathing and heart beats are detected and monitored. Soteria looks at the distance, movement and speed to identify patient falls and trigger alerts.
What else can Soteria do?
Resting Heart Rate
- Monitoring your heart rate during sleep (resting heart rate) can provide critical information about your health. Recent studies suggest that a resting heart rate of 76 BPM or higher may be linked to higher risk of heart attack. Furthermore, sudden, unexplained episodes of rapid, irregular heartbeat and pulse can predate a heart attack by weeks or month
Sleep Apnoea Monitoring
- 1 in 4 Australian adults are at risk of developing sleep apnoea.
- More than 1.5 million Australians suffer from OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea) which can cause lack of concentration, memory loss, depression or if left untreated can cause high blood pressure, heart disease, dementia, diabetes and can double the risk of stroke.
- Soteria is able to monitor respiration rate, heart rate and movement in order to accurately assess the user’s Apnoea-Hypopnea Index (AHI)
